Obituary of Richard Franklin Thomas

Mr. Richard F. "Dick" Thomas, 80, of Ft. McCoy, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Tuscany Hospice House. A native of Colorado, he moved to this area in 1973, coming here from South Bend, Indiana. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He was the owner/operator of Dick Thomas Refrigeration and Heating. His memberships include life membership in the VFW, charter member of the Ocala Flying Model Club, and past commander of the Charles Whiteacre Memorial VFW Post # 10208 in Salt Springs. He is survived by his daughter Joanne Kendall, step-daughters Vickie Shepard and Janet Switalski, sons Richard F. Thomas, Jr., Robert Thomas, Jack Thomas, Stephen Thomas, Michael Thomas, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. A memorial services will be held at 9:30 AM Monday, February 15, 2010, at Florida National Cemetery, with Angela Santos VFW Post officiating. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., is handling arrangements.
