Obituary of Catherine Virginia Cash
Virginia Cash passed away in The Villages on February 25, 2010.
She was born in Elgin, Illinois and came to The Villages from Clermont, FL in 1998. She attended the Cowboy Church in Eustis, Fl.
Virginia was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 347. She also loved to read, especially romance novels. Her mom made her take dancing lessons. Virginia didn't like the toe dancing; it was too hard on the toes! She liked to collect foreign and domestic dolls, sending quilts to service men, and she made cards for nursing home residents, the Arnold Palmer Hospital and the Veterans Hospital in Gainesville, FL
She went to Catholic Schools for Elementary-Elgin High School-then Ellis Business College in Illinois.
Her Mom started her love of collecting foreign dolls. She attended a hobby show with her dolls and that's where she met Bob on April 26, 1939. Bob's friend dared Bob to talk to Virginia. They married May 20, 1944. Bob was in the service for the beginning of their marriage. They moved 26 times in 13 years. Her favorite time was living in their houseboat.
They had four children, Kathy, the oldest, Gregory, Bob Jr., and Ginny. Her love for her children inspired her to write a story of her life for them. She included memories of each child, and key moments of her life that she thought would matter to her kids. She also added photos from her as a child all the way through to her retirement home in the Villages. She has two sisters, Isabelle, who is 17 years older and like a second mom, and Dorothy, who is four years older and says they became very close as adults.
Surviving members of her family are Robert N. Cash, her husband, of The Villages, Florida; daughters, Kathy Ann Lawson of Gainesville, GA and Ginny Lynn Charnock of Old Hickory, Tennessee; sons, Gregory A. Cash of Buford, GA and Robert N. Cash, Jr of Mebane, North Carolina; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Virginia loved her life, her family, and God. She thanked God for it all.
