Obituary of Pascual Torres
Pascual "Patty" Torres, age 74, of Ocala, FL passed away on March 8, 2010. He was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on May 14, 1936. Patty joined the US Army at the age of 17 and served active duty for 18 years earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his military service, Patty moved to New York City where he married his wife of 53 years Iris Torres Vargas. Together they raised three children. Patty worked in the floor covering business for 36 years. He retired as a store manager for Sam's Carpet Corp. in the Bronx, NY. Patty and his wife moved to Florida in 2004 where he has worked for FEMA doing damage evaluation. He has helped many Floridians receive aid during Hurricane catastrophes. Patty was a member of the Assembly of God El Faro Church where he was one of the Leaders of The Royal Rangers. Patty was an avid martial arts instructor and held a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu. He ran a martial arts school in the Bronx. He made sure his children learned the art. Patty is survived by his wife Iris; twin children Richard Torres and Helen Arroyo; daughter Wanda Rios; sisters Milagros, Valentina and Felicita; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
