Obituary of Lura Austin Hensle Moore
Lura Austin Hensle Moore passed away on March 13, 2010 at her home in the Oak Run community of Ocala.
Lura was born to Mary and Jesse Hensle in 1947 in New York City and raised in Wyckoff, NJ. As a young woman, she enjoyed singing in the choir, sewing and time with friends and family. Her amazing patience and a strong love of children led her to pursue a bachelors degree in Special Education from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL. and later become a teacher. Soon thereafter, she met the love of her life, Bobbie Lee Moore, at a church social. Bobbie and Lura were married in April 1973 and moved south to the Florida sun. In 1975, Bobbie and Lura were blessed with a son, James. Lura's faith life was quite important to her. She was an active and beloved member of Ocala West United Methodist Church, where she made many close friends. Lura loved a simple life and enjoyed watching classic movies and shows that were about family and connection. She could work joyfully on highly detailed art projects and puzzles. She had a passion for books, volunteering at the Oak Run Library and reading mysteries, biographies and her spiritual books. Friends and loved ones described her as caring, deeply compassionate and as an honest friend.
She is survived by her son James Moore of Portland, OR; mother Mary Hensle of Woodbridge, VA, sister Margaret Hensle of Highlands Ranch, CO; brother, Lawrence Hensle of Fairfax Station, VA, sister 'Lyn Hensle-Hirsch of New York City, NY; step daughters Sharon Berry and Theresa Hunsinger and stepson Robert Moore all of Evansville, IN. A memorial service is planned for Friday, March 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Ocala West United Methodist Church, 9330 SW 105th Street, Ocala, FL led by Rev. Dr. Kenneth Kleckner III. Internment will follow the service at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL to follow service at 1:30 PM. Condolences may be posted to hiers-baxley.com.
