I had the pleasure of working with Bill for several years in the realm of Aviation Engineering and Planning, Bill was an on site construction inspector for my firm, after he "retired" from Washington D.C. although I do not think Bill ever officially "retired", he was always into something! I learned a great deal from Bill. He always had a positive attitude, a very professional manor and a great sense of humor!!! I will never forget Bill. I know from the many conversations we had, that he had a tremendous love for his Family and his Country. I will never forget the time I was invited to have dinner with Bill and Betty at their home in Norfolk VA, I got to see Bill's "artsy" side and learned that aside from being a laser straight engineer, he did beautiful stained glass art work. During this visit I also got see Bill's "fake surveilance camera" to keep eyes on the golfers that might stray into the backyard (remember I said he had a sense of humor!)
Anyway, I dont want to take up the whole page here, I just want to close by saying that I am truely a better person for having known and spent time with my friend Bill Nicholls and I believe that everyone in my generation ( I am almost 40 years younger than Bill) can learn more than they will ever imagine and become a better person if they are given the gift of spending time with someone from Bill's generation. - Jeff Tarkington
