Obituary of John Robert Means
John Robert Means, 78, formerly of Vigo County, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010. He was born in Vigo County, Ind., and moved to The Villages, Fla., in 2004 from Clearwater, Fla. He was a retired captain of the U.S. Marines, and served as Condo Association V.P. at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla.
He enjoyed boating skiing, tennis, pickle ball.
Survivors include his wife, Cecilla Means of The Village; daughters, Diana Elam of Monroe, Ga., and Bonnie Morgan of Palm Harbor; sister, Patty Swearingen of Brazil, Ind., four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen Means and Jesse Means; and sisters, Hazel Elder, Edna Means, Mary Harmon, Eva Kays, and Alice Webster.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, Fla., with full military honors. Arrangements are under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services.
