Obituary of John H. Humphrey

Ocala - John Henry Humphrey, age 78, passed away April 26, 2010, at Munroe Regional Medical Center. He was born March 24, 1932, in Galveston, Texas to Louis Henry Humphrey and Annie Nichols Humphrey. The family moved to Florida in 1942. He served in the US Air Force. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1956. John was an Educator who taught sixth grade for several years before becoming Principal at East Marion Elementary School at Lynne. John especially loved fishing in the Gulf and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Jane, and stepsons: Tom, Charlie, and Will Curtis and stepdaughter, Mary Jane Allison and her husband, Randy Allison and four grandsons, Reed and Andy Curtis and Ryan and Evan Allison as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters: Julia Elizabeth Barnes and Mary Humphrey. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Grace Episcopal Church where he had been a member for many years.
