Mr. Reinhart was always the highest quality man, always.
Dave had a calming nature and a spark in his smile; he had a way with words that instilled confidence in his friends and co-workers. I am honored to have been both with Mr. Reinhart. Dave Loved radio and we all could tell how much he valued all of us around him. We laughed and learned together. We faced challenges and found solutions to exceed expectations together as a team. Dave made work, Fun! Men like Dave a rare and precious, how many other people could have the fortitude to stand up to the harrowing challenges of being the ringmaster while the three ring circus that rampaged around him 24/7 called the Power pig? Dave was man enough to face the challenge and found a way to be a calm and strategic leader in the midst of some of the most unique circumstances in the history of broadcasting. We enjoyed some memorable times together.
I will never forget the lessons I learned from Dave. One of the best is "value people." As much as Dave cared for all of his co-workers, Dave loved his family intensely. He would speak of his wife Joan and you could see a smile start to form on his face that showed the depth of appreciation he felt for her presence in his life. He was a great man, a skilled leader, and I will always feel a warm spot in my heart when I think of Dave.
My heart goes out to Dave's family and loved ones you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Dave I will be along too at some point, I look forward to catching up with you and Big D when it is the right time.

Mr.Reinhart was one of the nicest people to work for-- he would come by my office about once a week at Christmas time to see what new item I would add and he would always ask what it did -- I miss this. I also enjoyed trying to find differnet rinos for his present. He was a very caring person -- he is a great loss to radio and I am sure to his family. God bless the Reinhart Family.

Dave was always a gentleman. His goodness, kindness, fairness sat right on top, in clear view of everyone whose life he touched. I am better because I knew him. Joanie, Scott, Steve -- please know how many are thinking about you, and feel for your loss. The planet is a little less without Dave on it. And is clearly a better place because Dave walked here. He will live in you, and in all of our hearts always.

Dave was a great boss, a great mentor and an even better person. Have never met anyone in radio who cared more about his staff and their families, and someone you could always count on to do right by his people. We spent many hours talking baseball, both in Cincinnati and after his move to Tampa, and he convinced me that the Rays would (eventually) be every bit as big as his beloved Reds - so much so that we also relocated to help him realize one of his dreams. Joanie, you and Dave welcomed us with open arms, and we will be forever grateful. Although we can't be with you, you and the boys are very much in our hearts and prayers.

Saddened by this news and our hearts go out to Joanie and the family. It was Dave who brought me and my family to Tampa Bay to fulfill a dream to broadcast Major Leauge Baseball, which he loved. I read all of the posts of those who knew him longer and worked for him more years than I did. But in my 7 years with WFLA, I could see the traits of kindness and fairness you all speak of. So few leave an impact on so many as he has and how you've all realized it was a privilege and honor to have worked for him and known him. While we still make our home in Tampa Bay, I won't be able to be there as I'm currently working in Washington, DC but will be thinking of you all on Saturday. Rest in peace, Dave.

When I got the word from James K. Davis in Vero Beach, FL I thought "another one of the really "good guys" is gone and the radio fraternity is sad over this loss. As one who has been archiving the radio biz on videotape for over 30 years, I now treasure the outrageously funny piece I shot in October of 1986 at an Earl Pitts (aka Gary Burbank) rally while he was running 700 WLW in Cincinnati. Todays, GM's and PD's could learn much from looking at how Rhino ran radio. To borrow from Tina Turner, he was "Simply the Best....better than all the rest." We will miss you David because you touched so many in a productive and positive way. You may be gone, but your memory and the signal will go on forever.

Disc jockey, stock broker, program director, general manager, market manager and VP.
That's what Dave did, but those things did not define him. It's who Dave was that will be the true legacy. Dave was a gentle man; a kind spirit in a cut-throat business.
He was an honest broker in the midst of a culture of lies. He gave credit far more often than he took it. He gave us all room to grow...to succeed, to fail and to learn; not only in the pursuit of building a better mousetrap, but also in an effort to fulfill our own potential.
In all aspects of his life, as a husband, father, grandfather, friend and boss, Dave Reinhart was a man upon whom you could depend, whose integrity could not be questioned.
My thoughts and prayers are with Joanie, and Dave's entire family.

When I reminisce of those years, when you read the comments here and when you share stories about Dave the golden quality that weaves through all of them is the one that made him endearing to all of us - it is his humility. Dave Reinhart is one guy I'm going to miss. Growing up In Dayton, Ohio, I listened to Dave on the old 1410 WING and on WSAI. I'm not gonna say Dave got me into radio, but I just thought it would be fun to play music and talk dirty on the radio.
Later, I got to work for Dave as News Director at WFLA/WFLZ in Tampa. Lots of good memories from this place, including the launch of the Power Pig. Dave was a great leader and took the time to get to know all of his staff.
Radio is better today thanks to Dave Reinhart.

My good friend Dave gave me my first chance to work in English language radio. He also believed in me and in my talents and promoted me when perhaps no one else would've. I owe much of my success (as a CEO for my own radio company) based on following Dave's example of leadership. I always got a boost in my self-esteem when he took time to write those "great job" notes everytime I closed on a deal or hit my budget. I remember like yesterday, him walking down the sales cubicle area holding his tie. He never raised his tone or lost his temper. In his eyes everyone deserved proper respect. Dave is now free from the worries of this world and is in a wonderful place reuniting with past loved ones. One day we will see him again and he will be smiling!! :-)

I fell into the crazy world we call radio under his stewardship as he was my first GM. I learned from him early on that you could earn people's respect with a unique blend kindness and genius. He was rich in both and willing to share them often.
He made it OK to be yourself around "the boss". We'd go all go out for one of the many book parties he had earned us and do shots together. We'd be amazed at his constitution, only later did we discover he had been quietly dumping his under the table. :)
Dave, I toast you one last time. Thanks for being a fine example of the impact a good person has on others, in life and even after it.

Dave had just been named the PD of WLW while still doing 10-3 Saturday, when Randy Michaels called one Saturday afternoon. He asked me (the music director) if I knew anything about the "Abraham, Martin & John" cart in the air studio. I said I'd put it there to trip up the guy who played that morbid Dion record every anniversary of a John Kennedy or MLK fart. I wanted to at lteast make the sappy moment funny for the rest of us so I put the Moms Mabley version on the Dion-labelled cart.
Randy said, "Well your new boss just played it as a part of a contest on the air." I said, "Screw him if he can't take a joke." I didn't know I was on Randy's speakerphone and Dave was sitting right there.
Dave DID think it was funny and loved to tell that story. I'll miss him but his influence lives in so many people who set their sights to his level of goodness, he'll never be forgotten.

I grew up in Cincinnati listening to Dave on WSAI. Forget Murray the K, for a time in early 1967 Dave was the 5th Monkee in Cincinnati. His "Fred the Jokeman" had such gems as "what do you get when you add one lang and one lang" which would roll straight into the Chiffon's "He's So Fine" with it's opening "du-lang, du-lang". Dave eventually left radio after WSAI for the security of being a stock broker.
I met Dave when I was at 55KRC and we had him fill in for Dusty Rhodes on our Hot Wax weekend. When Randy Michaels took a slew of us to WLW in 1983 I asked Dave to anchor our hotwax weekends and, after some coaxing, he became our 10a-3pm Saturday host. He got better every week as he was his own best critic. Before long the hook was set and Dave was bringing in talk topics for our midday talk show during his lunch hour at the stock broker. Shortly after I left WLW Randy asked Dave to come back to radio and program WLW. He was back where he belonged.
Dave was one of the kindest people I've ever known. He never stopped learning and mentoring. Dave was in my wedding so when I look at this picture on my wall now I'll feel a terrible sense of loss. My condolences to Joanie and the family.

Like Tim, I met Dave at WLW under rather unusual circumstances. He was actually mentoring a couple of overnight guys/morning show producers (us) at a station in a different market than his own. I'm sure he had better, more important and more pressing things to do - but he did that for us. And when we learned he would be our GM in Tampa, we were excited because we already knew what kind of a person he was and we looked forward to working for him.
I also dealt with Dave after many of the principals at WFLZ had moved on and my situation was somewhat tenuous. He was every bit as understanding and helpful then as well. It was a privilege to work for him and know him.
My heart goes out to the family and it is with great sadness that I write this.

Winning the category of "Best Boss I Ever Had" is usually a difficult decision. But working with Dave at Clear Channel makes this an easy choice. What others have said is true; kind, gentle, smart as a whip, and playful. He had good "ears". Part of that mentoring that Dave had is most likely why Scott followed him into radio. He was taught by the Master.
I was lucky enought to know another part of David's life. That as an active amateur radio operator - K8BPX. Dave could send and receive Morse Code faster than most people could type. I was amazing to watch. Dave and I put together a group of CC hams for the annual Field Day contest. In 2002 and 2003, we ranked top 20 in the Country. A very enviable position.
Dave will be missed by so many of us, as well as Joan and the boys. I can't wait to hear Dave doing mid-days on God's True Oldies Channel!

Dave was like a second dad to me, and I couldn't ask for a better one. He was truly a mentor and role model... quick to offer advice and encouragement when needed, and always willing to take a chance on someone whom he believed in.
Dave and Joanie, and my wife and I enjoyed many great times together. I remember one night when were coming back from dinner, and Dave and I were talking about ham radio, which we were both had an interest in, and Dave became a little choked up as he told me about how he used to enjoy the hobby with his dad when he was younger. From then on, Dave and I would always talk about ham radio, and every once in a while he would fire up the radio in his office and work morse code with me. To me, those experiences must've been similar to what he enjoyed with his dad, and I will never forget them, or the many other great times we shared.
Dave will always be in our hearts, and my thoughts and prayers and with Joanie and the family during this terrible time.
