Happy Birthday Jim! I was remembering diferent things we did this time of year, like: taking the Maxx train to the Cinco De Mayo festival for your birthday and how you could always convince me to go on the rides that scared me. :0) We would have to stop for Gyros of coarse at the market and we would push each other into the fountains, although I was the only one that ever seemed to get wet, lol! I remember going to watch the fireworks for the opening of the Rose Festival and walking around during the Starlight Parade. We would go to Oaks Park and ride the ferris wheel. You loved the outdoors and water more than almost anyone I know. I remember driving to the coast to get oysters, so Jo could make oyster stew (the best ever.) My nephew is playing baseball at the same field you did and now when I go watch him I remember going to watch your games, you were so cute i your little uniform, it's hard to believe that was 16 years ago. I also remember the first time I went trap shooting, with you and your dad and I was so nervous I shot the trap house. I never lived that one down, lol. I remember all the fun concerts and rodeos we went to. I remember how you were so into the Dukes of Hazzard for awhile and my dad made you a distillery as a going away gift, I can't imagine what gave him such a crazy idea, to give that to a 15yr old. I also remember going fishing at Blue Lake and the 1st time I saw a Nutria and I thought you were making them up and how hard you laughed when I screamed and saw it. Your infectious laughter, bright and bold personality are so greatly missed. I could go on forever, because there isn't an event or place in Portland that your memory isn't at and won't always be.

The trip Jim, my brother Norm and I took to 'ride the dragon' at Deals Gap, Tennessee, was an amazing trip. I rode back of Norm and Jim followed. At the top of the Gap, we stopped to take in the scenery and you could tell Jim was excited about being there.
After the decent, he asked his Dad if we would mind waiting so he could experience the thrill a second time. The look on his face when he came down was priceless, but even more so the pegs on his bike were ground down by more than half!! We got back to my cabin in GA and took a walk up the ridge to just talk about life and memories he had of Nolan growing up...since we rarely got to see each other. He planted some leland cypress trees for me which have since doubled in size and I can't walk or drive by them without thinking of Jim. Thanks, Nephew...you were truly special. Aunt Nene
