Obituary of Laura Jean Conley

Jean Roche Conley, 67 Ocala - Jean Roche Conley of Ocala, Fl passed away peacefully while under the professional care of the Palm Garden Staff, on Thursday, May 13, 2010. She was brave and couragious, but finally succumbed to cancer after battling it since 2006. Mrs. Conley was born in Ocala, Fl, November 20, 1942 and resided here her entire life. She was the oldest daughter of Maion C. Roche and the late Virginia T. Roche. After graduating from Troy University in 1964, she spent her entire professional career as a teacher at Wyomina Park Elementary. She taught for 30 years and retired in 1994. Survivors include her husband of forty-five years, D. Paul Conley. Other survivors include a son, Scott Conley (Cara) and their two sons, Bowling Green, Ky; and daughter, Cason L. Whitaker (Joseph) and their two sons and two daughters, Ocala. Other survivors are her father, Marion C. Roche, age 98, and sisters Sharon Pederson (Wally) and Judy Crace (Sam) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia T. Roche, a younger sister, Linda R. Harmon, and a niece, Elizabeth Crace. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ. She was noted for the love and concern for all of her students. Jean also authored two cookbooks which are in the kitchens of many Ocalans. Visitation will be at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 910 East Silver Springs Blvd on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00am at the Central Church of Christ, 4200 East Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Ocala.
