Obituary of Thomas E. Gambill
Thomas E. "Tom" Gambill, Jr., age 89, of Ocala, FL passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010. He was born in Petersburg, TN on September 6, 1920. He was raised in Tennessee and lived there until joining the U.S. Army where he served four years during WWII. After his military service Tom returned to the states and lived in Ohio with his wife and together they raised three sons. He worked twenty-five years at Portage Machine Co. in Akron, OH retiring as Plant Manager. After moving to Florida he opened and managed the True Value Hardware in the Forty East shopping center. His hobbies included woodworking, working on cars, photography, RV traveling around the United States and family. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. Mr. Gambill is survived by his wife of 67 years Dorothy T. Gambill; son Ronald Gambill of Tampa, FL; son Gene Gambill of Cleveland, OH; son Stephen Gambill of Ocala, FL; sister Louise Brown of Columbia, TN; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL on Monday, June 7, 2010 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Central Church of Christ, 4200 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 11:00am. Interment with military honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion Co., PO Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478.
