DAVISON, Elvin W. "Dave"
Elvin W. "Dave" Davison died Wednesday, June 16th, quietly and peacefully at Hospice's Estelle House in Ocala, Florida after a brief battle with cancer, at the age of 79. He was born February 13, 1931 in Hortense, Georgia. After graduating from high school, he joined the US Navy and served for 8 years. He was a Florida resident for 53 years living in Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Ocala. He began his successful sales career at Downtown Oldsmobile dealership in Jacksonville, Florida. He then continued his sales career working for the SCAPA Paper Group in Blackburn, England and Wilson, NC. He worked for this company for 35 years as a sales representative. He ended his career as their International Sales Manager. He retired to Ocala, Florida in 1997. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ocala, and volunteered on the Handyman Team and Habitat for Humanity. He was also a member of Good Ole Boys and a Gator Booster for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ann Hall Davison, and their two daughters, Kristi Gillum of Ocala (Craig) and Tobi Potapow of Gainesville (Michael, Jr.) and 5 grandchildren, Michael Potapow III, Melissa Gillum, Lynley Potapow, Joshua Gillum and Allison Potapow. He also is survived by three sisters, Marlene Gibb of Rock Hill, SC, Jeanette Manning of Hortense, Georgia, and Katie Jean Davison of Pooler, Georgia and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 21, 11 am at the First Baptist Church 2801 Southeast Maricamp Road, Ocala, FL 34471. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, Florida 33612. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, is handling arrangements.
