Obituary of John Parker Owens

Owens, John Parker, 72 Ocala - John Parker Owens, 72 died peacefully at Sylvia's House with his family by his side on June 26, 2010. Mr. Owens was born in Alachua, FL on March 16, 1938 to John H. Owens and Elna Cason Owens. He was a graduate of Ocala High School in 1956. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Worked for the Postal Service for 35 years. Started working at the Ocala Post Office and became Postmaster in Lady Lake, then Candler, retiring in 1992. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Ocala Elks Lodge, and NAPUS. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandra Owens; son, John Craig Owens of Richland, Washington; sister, Fay Owens Bonner and husband, Jerry; brothers, Ralph E. Owens and wife Ann and Jack Owens and his wife Christina; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Negron and Mary Owens; several nieces, nephews and many friends. John was preceded in death by brothers James P. Owens and Jerry A. Owens. Services will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 S.E. Silver Springs Blvd on July 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Darren Bess officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 30, 2010 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Those who wish may make contributions to Hospice Of Marion County, P.O.
