Obituary of Annie Marguerite Middleton
Ocala - Annie Marguerite Knight Atkinson Middleton, 93, died July 7, 2010. She was born Feb. 5, 1917 to Hugh and Annie Knight in Ocklawaha, Fl with ties to the Redding, Knoblock, Morrison and Bittings pioneer families. Mother to Elsie Guinn, Thornton Camden Atkinson, Elene (Burton) John, Denise (Dennis) Eskola, James Middleton and Julie Martindale, grandmother to ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Marguerite was employed as a telephone operator in Ocala when the operator asked "Number please?" and later at Edwards Air Force Base in southern California. On retirement she volunteered as a Gray Lady at Lancaster (CA) Hospital for twelve years returning to Ocala in 2001. She passed away at Marion House Health Care Center under the care of Hospice of Marion County. Marguerite requested any donations be sent to Hospice or the local Humane Society. Services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd. with Rev, Samuel W. Clements officiating. Family gathering to follow.
