Obituary of Harold Daniel Spencer
SPENCER, HAROLD DANIEL
Ocala - Harold Daniel Spencer, 88, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2010 surrounded by his family. Harold was born on Jan. 7, 1922 in Detroit, MI and was the son of Harry and Sophia Spencer. He served in the Army Air Corps and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, European/African/Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a building contractor in Ocala for over 60 years. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 66 years, Myra, daughters, Sandra Spencer Huey and Janice Spencer Aylward, son, Kenneth Spencer, five grandsons, one great granddaughter, sisters, Betty Spencer Barton and Frances Spencer and brother, Harry I. Spencer, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Addie Spencer McNeil and Margarette Spencer Hornbeck and his brother, James Spencer. His family and friends will remember him as a gentle man who always put his family first. He always enjoyed his visits to the North Carolina mountains. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010 at 10:00 A.M at Highland Memorial Park, 1515 NE 3rd Street, Ocala.
