Obituary of Lela Mae Steel

STEEL, LELA M. Ocala - Mrs. Lela M. Steel, 85, passed away on Aug. 20, 2010. Mrs. Steel was a founding member of Grace Presbyterian Church (PCA) of Ocala, where she taught Sunday School for small children. She was a missionary to Ukraine for 14 years, where she worked with orphans, among who she was affectionately called "Babushka Lela." She was preceded in death by her husband, 1st Lt. James A. Steel, Jr. and her daughter, Colleen Lynch. Mrs. Steel is survived by hers sons, James (JoAnn) Steel, III of Ocala, Ronald E. (Jenny) Steel of St. Louis, MO and Ronald J. (Linda) Lynch of Ocala, her 13 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Viewing hours for Mrs. Steel will be 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd. Ocala. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 PM at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2255 SE 38th St., Ocala.
