Frederick Thomas Worthington (Fred)
Fred passed away on Friday, Sept 10, 2010. He was born Feb 25, 1933. He lived a long and full life for 77 years. He came to know the Lord in the year 2008. He was in business for 30 years and retired from Fred's BP in Chiefland. Before that he was employed by Anderson Columbia where he spent 25 years in road construction. He was well known for his kindness and good heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand if someone was in need. Mr. Worthington is survived by his wife of 55 years, Esther Worthington, daughter Sandra Hodge (Tim), sons Lloyd Worthington (Inez), Thomas Worthington, sisters Betty Roberts, Russalene Foley (Don) and Mary Faye Horne, 7 grandsons and 5 granddaughters. He was blessed with a great number of great grandchildren that he was able to see and hold before he passed away. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews that loved him very much.
He is predeceased by his parents, John Russell and Flossie Worthington.
Fred was a loving husband, devoted father & great Grandpa and a good friend to everyone that he came across. He was a well respected man in Chiefland. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He loved to farm, ride his tractor, and work his front end loader. He also loved to raise cattle, hogs, chickens and quail.
Funeral Services will be Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 at 2:30 pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services in Chiefland. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Sat. Sept 11, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
