Obituary of Giovanni Piccirilli

PICCIRILLI, Giovanni Mr. Giovanni Piccirilli, 72, of Ocala, died Friday, September 17, 2010 at Sylvia's Hospice House. A native of Pacentro, Italy, he moved to Dearborn, Michigan in 1964, and then to Ocala in 1992. Before moving to America, he served in the Italian Army Alpini Corps. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a manager in the construction industry. Mr. Piccirilli loved animals, gardening, and cooking. He was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife Alice, daughter Rita, son Claudio, step-daughter Kristi Rathert, step-son Jonathan Martichuski, sisters Connie LePore and Carol Battaglini, brothers Tony, Atillio and Quintino Piccirilli, and his faithful dog Bella. He was preceded in death by his daughter Loretta and brothers Nicola and Mario. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church with Father Michael O'Keefe officiating. Visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Monday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM. Entombment will follow in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
