Obituary of Robert Parkhill Collum

Robert "R.P." Parkhill Collum, 80, of Chiefland, passed away Oct. 16, 2010 at the Tri-County Hospital in Williston. Born in Lloyd, FL., he moved to Jacksonville FL at 6 months of age. He was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, FL and attended the University of Florida. He bought property in Chiefland in 1967 and began living here full time after he retired in 1983. He served his country in the US Army. He hired out to Seaboard Air Line Rail Road and retired as an engineer for CSX Railroad after 40 years. He attended St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Chiefland. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #101, a lifetime member of Morocco Shriners of Jacksonville, FL, member of and past president of 13 years of The Chiefland Hunting Club, charter member of Fowlers Bluff Volunteer Fire Dept., past officer of Fowlers Bluff Water Plant, past member of Shriners Marching Band, served 16 years as Local Chairman of Brotherhood of Fireman and Trainman. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He just celebrated his 80th birthday with all family members present. He was most proud of his children, step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kitty Collum of Chiefland, daughters Deborah (Jim) Collum Binski of Dayton, OH, Nancy (Steve) Collum Walker of Nashville, TN, Suzanne Collum Kincaid of Dayton, OH, son, Robert "Bob" Collum of Davenport, FL, step-daughter Karen (Tony) Kirby and step-son Howard (Joan) Moody, both of Belleview, FL, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Thursday Oct 21, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services with Father Richey officiating. Burial will follow at Chiefland Cemetery. Visitation will be Wed. Oct 20 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
