Obituary of John Madsen
John F. Madsen, 79, of Ocala, FL, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010 in Ocala. He was born in Union City, NJ on December 27, 1930 to the late John and Frances Madsen. John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired as a butcher from the A&P. He was a volunteer fireman with the Township of Washington Fire Dept. for 35 years. John was an active member in the Oak Run community including the New Jersey Club, New York Club, the Oak Run Veterans and a Travel Club host. Beside his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother Henry Madsen and sister Dorothy Rossi. John is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet; daughter Gail Benz (Eric), Gainesville, FL; son Gregg Madsen (Craig Kodera), Clermont, FL; grandchildren Karl Benz, Milton, VT and Lisa Prescott (Clint), Jefferson City , MT. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 9695 SW 110th St., Ocala, followed by the funeral service on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 10:30AM. Burial will follow at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Memorial Contributions may be given to Hospice of Marion County-Oak Run or a charity of one's choice.
