Obituary of Russell Maurice Hines

Hines, Russell M. Ocala-Russell M. Hines, 80, passed away Wednesday November 10, 2010 in Ocala, Fl. Russell was born in Charlotte, NC to Russell D. Hines and Bessie (King) Hines. Mr. Hines moved to Skaneateles, NY in 1960 and then to Lancaster, PA in 1996 and then to Ocala in 1998. Mr. Hines was a 33 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. Russ then formed his own company and worked as the owner/operator of Russ Hines & Associates of Skaneateles, NY and PA. He was involved in the After School Good News Club in the public schools in the Fessenden School System. Mr. Hines was a member of First Baptist Church of Ocala and formerly served as a deacon. He was involved in Prison Ministries and passionate about encouraging people and writing to prison inmates. He was an avid reader and past member of several clubs including the Rotary Club of Ocala, and the Southern and Native Plant Clubs of On Top of the World. Russ served several years with the Gideon's International Bible Society, and with the Christian Professional Men's Association. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara A. Hines of Ocala; daughters, Virginia Taber and husband Michael of Ararat, NC, and Patricia Hines of Chandler, AZ; one brother, William H. Hines and Corlene of Ocala; and one aunt Essie Shealy of Charlotte, N.C.; 4 Grandchildren Rae Khuri, Christian Taber, Sarah Henkes, and John Henkes; and 4 Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Service for Mr. Hines will be held on Monday November 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Ocala 2801 S.E. Maricamp Rd. Ocala, Fl. 34471 with Dr. Darren Gaddis officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 AM before the service. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery Bushnell, Fl. at 1:30 PM with Military Honors provided by Angela Santos VFW Post #4781 of Ocala. Memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon International Mission Board C/O First Baptist Church of Ocala 2801 S.E. Maricamp Rd. Ocala, Fl. 34471.
