Obituary of Loren L. Kelley

Loren L. Kelley, Sr. Age 90 of Hernando, FL, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on November 29, 2010, under the loving care of family, friends, and Citrus County Hospice at Citrus Memorial Hospital. He was born to Dennis A. and Anna I. Kelley on September 14, 1920 in Leonard, Mich. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather and friend to many throughout his entire life. He was involved in the lives of all those he loved and had wisdom and compassion beyond our understanding. He moved to FL in 1992 and summered in Evart, Mich. He moved to Florida permanently in 1997. He was a member of the Inverness Church of God. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army 33rd Battalion for which he received the Purple Heart. While his children were in school he served as the President of the Parent-Teacher Association. He was also Scout Master of his sons Boy Scout Troop. He retired from General Motors in 1975 after working 35 years. He worked in Plants 14 and 15, Dept 49 in Pontiac Motors, Pontiac, Mich. As a gas-electric truck repairman. He was still an active member in the UAW. He is survived by his wife, Kaye F. Parra-Kelley of Hernando, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Sophie E. Kelley. He is also survived by his sons, Robert C. (Bonnie) Kelley of AuGres, Mich, Dennis L. (Sharon) Kelley of Clinton Township, Mich, and Loren L. (Elaine) Kelley, Jr. of Pontiac, Mich.; step-son, Kenneth R. Thieme of Defiance, Ohio; daughters, Earline M. Burt of Waterford, Mich., and Darlene D. Parker of Citrus Springs, FL; sister-in-laws, Phyllis (Donald) Amari of Inverness, FL, Wanda Sires of Hernando, FL, and Peggy (Harold) Lykins of Inverness, FL; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. There will be a celebration of his life with family and friends at a later date.
