HORNBECK, Ronald Edward
Ronald Edward Hornbeck, 84, died Thursday, December 9, 2010, at his home in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Norton Township, Ohio, on October 4, 1926, a son of the late Charles and Glenna Hornbeck. He served in the US Navy from 1945-46. He devoted his live to being a high school math teacher and football coach. He retired from the Carrollton Local School District in 1980, after 31 years of service. He was selected as a Jennings Scholar in recognition of his outstanding classroom achievements and is to be inducted into the Carrollton Athletic Hall of Fame in October 2011. Surviving are his wife, Mary Elizabeth Lohr Hornbeck, whom he married on February 20, 1948, two sons; Charles (Judy) Hornbeck of Cincinnati, James (Junko) Hornbeck of Jacksonville, FL, one daughter; Mary Ann (Roger) Burrell of Jacksonville, FL, one sister; Doris Crosier of Seattle, Washington, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services will hold a memorial service on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at 2 PM located at 910 East Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations be made to the Carrollton Schools Alumni Foundation, Inc., PO Box 609, Carrollton, Ohio 44615.
