Obituary of Richard Levon Hammer

SUMMERFIELD — Richard L. "Dick" Hammer, 72, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010. Mr. Hammer was born in Kane, Pa., and moved to Summerfield from Delaware, Ohio, in 2003. He was a retired district manager for State Chemical in Cleveland, Ohio; a member of the Veterans Club of Del Webb; Tennis Club of Del Webb; an Air Force veteran; and his hobbies were tennis, movies and weightlifting. Survivors include his companion, Angela Mitchell, Hilliard, Ohio; sons Tracy, Columbus, Don, Galloway, Ohio, and Christian, Lakewood, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages. Inurnment, with full military honors, will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3709 W. Jetton Ave., Tampa, FL 33629 or to the new Moffitt Cancer Center at The Villages Health System Foundation, 1020 Lake Sumter Landing, The Villages, FL 32162 and write "Moffitt Cancer Center" on the memo line of the check.
