MEMORIES OF BARBARA ANN (MURPHEY) VOLKHEIMER
Barbara Volkheimer - also lovingly known as "Bobbie" and "BaMa" - was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law and friend.
God gifted her with many talents which she used wisely and well. Her artistic talents were used to create beautiful drawings and cards. She loved making all kinds of things, such as beautiful soft sculpture dolls and furry animals for her grandchildren and other family members and friends, including life size clowns and a set of grandma and grandpa dolls. Bobbie also created two-story doll houses using miniature "to scale" pieces of wood and roofing. She also created miniature appliances, tables, fireplaces and dolls for the houses which she gave to family and friends. Creating sculptured Gourds was another wonderful work of art. One was a wedding chapel with "stain glass" windows, complete with bride and groom. Another was a little old shack with laundry hanging on a clothes line in the back yard and a lady doll sitting in a rocking chair - this was her favorite one.
Her baking was also works of art - she would always create the most beautiful and delicious desserts for our Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years family gatherings - not just one for each gathering, but four or five different desserts with all kinds of fancy decorations.
Bobbie enjoyed reading. She was a super fast reader and liked all kinds of books, especially mystery books. After she finished them, she was always giving them away to family members and friends, or needy organizations/ libraries. She loved word games and cross word puzzles and was a great game partner and puzzle expert .
Bobbie also loved animals and she and Henry have always had at least one or two dogs to spoil: Timmy (a Dalmatian); Charmin (an Irish Setter), Otto (mixed breed -Doberman/ German Shepard), Heidi (Mom's Dachshund); Molly & Mandy ( Springer Spaniels ); Annie (King Charles Cavalier Spaniel ).
She has left us with beautiful memories and will be in our hearts forever.
