Obituary of Joseph Blake Bourne

THE VILLAGES — Joseph B. Bourne, 82, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011. Mr. Bourne was born in Washington, D.C., and moved to The Villages from Maryland in 2000. He was a retired engineer and mathematician for the Goddard Space Flight Center for 35 years; attended St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Community, Summerfield; member of Knights of Columbus; Past Grand Master of a Masonic Lodge; Lions Club; American Legion; an Army Air Corps veteran; and hobbies were swimming; painting; bicyclist; master scuba diver; mountaineer; adventurer; and traveler. Survivors include his wife, Janet; daughter, Jamie Bourne Gunsallus, Easton, Md.; son, Joseph B. Jr., Baltimore, Md.; brother, Henry C., LaPlata, Md.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages.
