Obituary of Merlene Rebecca Settles

Merlene Rebecca Strickland Settles, age 81, of Ocala, FL passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2011. Merlene was born in Bristol, FL on November 28, 1929. She was raised in Bristol and moved to Ocala, FL 36 years ago. Mrs. Settles was the Librarian at Ocala Christian Academy where she worked for 20 years and was also a member of Central Baptist Church, Ocala, FL. Her hobbies included book mending, sewing and fishing. She is survived by her son Lloyd K. Settles of Ocala, FL; daughter Candi Settles - Foster of Ocala, FL; 3 grandchildren Ryan, Dennis and Kimberly; and 1 great grandchild Jeremy. Mrs. Settles was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Settles and her sister Bertha Sykes. A memorial service for Mrs. Settles will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11:00am. Her cremains will be laid to rest beside her husband at Highland Memorial Park, Ocala, FL.
