Obituary of Larry Dale Patten

Patten, Larry Dale Ocala - Larry Dale Patten, 69, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Munroe Regional Medical Center following a brave battle with cancer. Born in Ossian, IN, he retired to Ocala in 2005 from Toledo, OH. He worked for Dana Corp. for 37 years. He was plant manager at the Lugoff, SC and Curitiba, Brazil facilities. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, a volunteer at Munroe Regional Medical Center, and also worked at Quiet Oaks Nursing Home. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce Patten of Ocala; 6 children Stacie Lister of Warwick, RI, Kristie Patten Koenig of Media, PA, Kevin Patten (Meredith) of Columbia, SC, Jeanine Patten-Coble (Terry) of Burlington, NC, Jason Patten (Diana) of Raleigh, NC, and Josh Patten of New York, NY; mother Dorothy Patten of Ossian, IN; siblings Robert Patten, Dianna Huycke, and Stan Patten; ten grandchildren with the eleventh due to arrive in June along with the first great grandchild. Larry is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Illa Patten. Larry enjoyed traveling, writing, painting, golf and all sports. He was a loving husband, dad, son, brother, grandpa and uncle. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 6455 SW Hwy 200. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Pink Houses of Hope, 1326 Southern High School Road, Burlington, NC 27215. Arrangements are under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services - Timber Ridge Chapel.
