Obituary of Ida Phillips Ruffing

Ida Phillips Ruffing, 82, died on Monday, January 31st, 2011, in Homosassa, FL., under the loving care of her daughter, her husband, and Hospice of Citrus County. She was born April 25, 1928 in Lake City, FL, to James Henry and Ida (Lee) Clardy. Ida was a homemaker, a member of the Old Town United Methodist Church and the American Legion, Post 91. She is survived by her loving husband Nicholas G. Ruffing of Trenton; her daughter Sheryle Lyman and husband Daniel of Homosassa; and her grandchildren David H. Greenlee of San Francisco, CA and Molly R. Greenlee of Grand Junction, CO. She was preceded in death by her son David Scott Phillips and her daughter Linda Joy Depowski. Ida was an avid gardener and her yard in Trenton was recognized by the City of Trenton for its beautification. She enjoyed Yahtzee and Scrabble, reading, and visiting with friends. Visitation will be this Friday at 6pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 1301 North Young Boulevard, Chiefland. On Saturday at 11 am a Service of Death and Resurrection will be held at Old Town United Methodist Church in Old Town, Fl, with the Rev. Carl Rainier officiating. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, McAlpin, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O.
