Obituary of Evelyn Bell Hagood

Hagood, Evelyn Bell Ocala - Evelyn Bell Hagood, 85, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Sylvia's Hospice House, Ocala, FL. She was born in Clincho, VA on March 14, 1925 to the late Jerry Carl Bell and Mabel Dickerson Bell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ocala, and attended Highlands Baptist Church. Evelyn was the valedictorian of her nursing school at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA, taught Sunday school for many years, and sang in the choir. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and being with her family. She is survived by sons John Scott (Jarl) Hagood, and Charles Duke (Becky) Hagood both of Ocala, FL; and daughters Ann H. (Tom) Brooks, of Leesburg, FL, Jane H. (Sid) Carter of Opelika, AL, and Beth H. (Ken) Jones of Homerville, GA. She also has 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Dr. Charles Scott Hagood. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, Feb. 10 at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the Baptist Children's Home or Hospice of Marion County. Arrangements are being handled by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, Florida.
