Obituary of Marilyn Jean Travers
Marilyn Jean Travers, 68 of Chiefland, passed away Feb. 9, 2011 at Haven Hospice of the Tri Counties in Chiefland. Marilyn was born Jan 1, 1943 in Albany, NY to Joe and Jean Beloncik. She grew up on a farm in Albany Cty. After graduating from high school she went to Airline School in Hartford, CT to become an Airlines Stewardess for American Airlines. In April of 62 she married Richard and moved to GA where her first son, Rick was born. In Aug. of 65 the family moved to Orland where her second son, Danny was born. Marilyn went to nursing school and started working at a doctor's office for the next 15 years. In 1990 the family relocated to Levy County and Marilyn went to work as a nurse at Lancaster Correctional Institute where she worked until she retired in 2005.
Marilyn loved working in the family clam business and keeping the books. She also loved to go red fishing on the airboat and going to Flea Markets buying and selling Vintage Cast Iron.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard Travers, 2 sons, Rick and Danny, all of Chiefland, her mother, Jean Flis of Crystal River. She has many relatives from Oklahoma to New York. Marilyn never met a stranger and will be missed by her family and many friends.
The family is planning a Celebration of her life in April.
