Obituary of Hedwig Freida O'Tilda Sands

BELLEVIEW — Hedwig "Hedy" Sands, 102, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011. Ms. Sands was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to Belleview from Galesburg, Ill., in 2003. She was a retired administrative assistant; a Presbyterian by faith; affiliated with Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts and 4-H; and her hobbies were volunteer work, bridge, church activities and reading. Survivors include her daughters Julie Beth Fischer, Decorah, Iowa, Patricia L. McIntosh, The Villages; son, Guy Bryan; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Galesburg, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 50 E. Main St., Galesburg, IL 61401. Arrangements are by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services of The Villages.
