Obituary of James Patrick Whitney
THE VILLAGES — James P. Whitney Sr., Esq., 85, died Friday, March 4, 2011.
Mr. Whitney was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to The Villages from Chicago in 1990. He was a U.S. Air Force, Navy and Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War; a member of American Legion Post 347; judge advocate for Florida DAV; commander of The Villages DAV; president of Phi Alpha Delta; member of VFW; and he was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Community.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathleen Boyles, San Diego; sons James Jr., Posen, Ill., Terence, Chicago, Kevin, Shorewood Ill., Matthew, Portage Ind.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at St. Timothy Catholic Community, Lady Lake. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages.
