Obituary of Walter Lee Leitherer

LEITHERER, W. LEE Ocklawaha - W. Lee Leitherer, 70, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born in Chicago and moved to Marion County in 1977 from Ft. Lauderdale. He was a member of Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church. He had formerly served as an elder and a deacon in other churches during his lifetime. He was a member of Gideon International and the American Legion. He enjoyed painting and motorcycles. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Alice of Ocklawaha, his daughter, Jeannie (Bob) Shepard of Ocklawaha, his sons, Jerry (Cindy) Leitherer of Colonial Heights, VA, Jim (Ashley) Leitherer of Columbia, SC and Joey Leitherer of Ocklawaha, his sister, Jacqi (Dick) McCandless of IL and his eight grandchildren Sabrina, Tim, Christian, Josh, Sammy, Daniel, Jeannie Marie and Alexis. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Snell officiating. Visitation will be at the church at 2 PM.
