Frank was a true leader and mentor to those sailors under his charge. We were just planning on getting together at the Madison reunion in June. As my first COB, he set the standard for the others who came along. He was an active leader in USSVI and followed the creed in remembering and honoring our Submarine heritage and those who gave so much to their country. Frank had sent me the wonderful service he had just put together and it is a testament to his dedication and devotion to the submarine service and Navy he loved. This nation is better because of Frank's service and he will be missed by all of his shipmates. Annette, you have our love and our prayers and we look forward to seeing you in Charleston. May our Lord refresh your soul with the fragrance of memories of your many wonderful years with Frank.

A long time ago, Frank was on my qual board on USS James Madison, SSBN 627 Blue. Frank only gave me one "come back" question. Thanks for your help Frank! Sailor, rest your oar.

"If you listen closely, in the distance you can hear the rumble of diesel engines and the sound of a klaxon. Then, in a swirl of bubbles and a gathering of foam, he slips beneath the waves on his eternal patrol."
Rest in peace, shipmate.

For Family and Friends of MMCM(SS) Earnest "Frank" Holland, USN, Ret.
No bond is greater than that of family members and the bond shared between submarine sailors. We of the Nautilus Alumni Association, Inc (NAAI) extend our deepest condolences as you grieve. Frank served NAAI as president between 2008 and 2010. During that time he was most instrumental in getting the Nautilus Scholarship established. Frank will be missed but not forgotten by his shipmates.
Frank, you have done your duty. Sailor, rest your oar!
Secretary, Nautilus Alumni Association
