Obituary of George N. Jones
Mr. George N. Jones, 81, of Ocala, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Munroe Regional Medical Center. A native of Bridgeton, NJ, he moved to Ocala in 2004, coming here from Bushnell, FL. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. After retiring from a career as a bank auditor, Mr. Jones then worked for 10 years for the Sumter County Road Department, enjoying the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a Mason, and a member of the Baptist Faith. In 1951, he married the love of his life, the former Alice Black. Along with his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his 2 daughters, Julie DeVol and Judy Hawthorne, both of Ocala, his brother Clifton G. Jones, Jr. (Dorothy), Greenwich, NJ, and his 4 grandsons, D.J., James, Stephen, and Jonathan. Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held at 2 PM Sunday, May 1, 2011, at First Baptist Church, 2801 SE Maricamp Road, Ocala, with Rev. Jerry Easley officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at his visitation from 5-7 PM Saturday at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala.
