Obituary of Virginia Lee Hillier-Rice

Virginia Lee Hillier - Rice A beautiful (vibrant) 85 year old, formerly of Quincy, Mass, Merritt Island, FL and Ocala, FL. A caring mother, loving and loyal wife, special "nana" grandmother and active great grandmother, and a dear friend to those who knew her. Virginia was an active member of The Florida Thoroughbred Breeders & Owners Association and The Fillies. One would often find her manning the bake sale table with her home cooked treats. Nana's chocolate cake was a favorite. Virginia learned to play cards from her father during the depression and was an avid card player. She loved ice cream, as it reminded her of trips to the ice cream shop with her father for 5 cent ice cream cones. When not baking and cooking, Ginny also enjoyed spending time playing the organ, walking her dogs and knitting and crocheting beautiful things for her family and friends and traveling with her husband and family. Born in Lawrence, Mass. Raised in Quincy, Mass. Parents were Hugh Lee and Gladys Hannah Maude Elisa Vineer Lee both from Lawrence, Mass. Virginia was part of a loving family with 5 siblings. Survived by her sister Phyllis Cassidy with husband Richard along with nieces and nephews Debbie (William) Cassidy, Donna (Nathan) Java, Michael (Karen) Cassidy and Steve(Anne) Cassidy and sister in law Lorraine Lee. Grandchildren Victoria Walther and husband Ron, Janeen DenHaese and husband Chris, Doug Medler and wife Elaine. Great grandchildren Nicholas and Matthew Walther, Dylan Medler, Thomas and William DenHaese Virginia is preceded in death by her three loving husbands, John Keyes, Joseph F. Hillier of 50 years and William R. Rice; along with three brothers Alfred Lee, William Lee and Robert "Bobbie" Lee and daughter Phyllis Medler.
