Miller, John David
John David Miller age 87 of The Villages, Florida died May 5, 2011. He was born to William Thornton Miller and Ester Cassell-Miller on May 31, 1923 in Camden, New Jersey. John is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dorcas Miller. He was a patriotic man who served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean wars. Following his enlistment in the military he was a member of the Destroyer Escort Association. John most enjoyed his hobby of model ship building.
An avid sports fan of baseball and college basketball and especially the Kentucky Wildcats.
He liked to read, golf and enjoyed the Big Band music of the 40's. John loved a good story and had a great sense of humor. He is also survived by a niece, Paula Neef of Scotts Valley, CA; A nephew, John Abel, Jr. of Seattle, WA. His brother-in-law John Abel, Sr. of Malibu, CA.
He was preceded in death by his one sister, Alice Abel. A memorial service will be held for John, 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at St. George Episcopal Church, 1250 Paige Place, The Villages, FL.
Inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. George Episcopal Church.
