Obituary of Rodney L. Gause

Rodney Lunsford Gause, 58, of Ocala, a former resident of Homosassa, died Friday, May 6, 2011 as a result of injuries received from an automobile accident. Rodney was born August 4, 1952 in Ocala and moved to Brooksville as a young boy where he grew up. He is the son of the late B.L. and Ibbie (Combs) Gause. He attended Hernando High School and graduated in 1970. Rodney was the manager for Gause and Son Jewelers in their Paddock Mall location for the last 19 years. Before that he was employed at Bealls for over 15 years as a store manager, opening many stores around the state of Florida. Rodney loved the outdoors and had a passion for fishing. He was often heard talking about his favorite boats and special fishing spots. He was a member CCA of Ocala. Many will miss his wonderful sense of humor, easy smile and booming voice. He is survived by loving wife of 35 years, Peggy Lowman Gause of Ocala, his daughter Sara and son-in-law Justin Delgado of Homosassa, brother Bobby Swindle and wife Joyce of Valdosta, Georgia, sister Dottie DelCastillo and husband Carlos of Trenton, Ohio and 3 grandchildren that were the joy of his life, Lucas Michael Delgado, 5, Isabella Rose Gause-Rein, 3, and Mia Trovell Delgado, 4 months and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He also leaves behind many friends and fishing buddies. He is preceded in death by his parents, B.L. and Ibbie Gause, sister, Linda Gause, 1967 and daughter, Elizabeth Lois Gause, 2011. Services will be Friday, June 24, 2011 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. Family will receive friends starting at 3:00 with the service starting at 4:00.
