I just today, right now, learned of Wayne's passing. Having moved away, I wasn't made aware of this. Wayne was always willing to help me while he was in uniform, and when he came up to the Detective Division, the caliber of the detectives went sky high. A nicer guy, a more hard worker I never met.
My fondest moment of Wayne was when he came into the Auto Theft Division, said hello to all of us, and brought Pricilla flowers for no reason, just, "I love you".
And last war story; I arrested a guy for burglary and I put the 10-15 in Wayne's car for transport. A second 10-15 was also placed in the car for the same burglary. Wayne asked me to step away from the patrol car while he smoked a cigarette and we talked. When he got to the County Jail, he asked me to meet him, and gave me a tape recording of the two suspects discussing the burglary and what to do with the property they had ditched behind the residence! He had a recorder running the whole time.
They wisely pled out.

Dear Priscilla and family,
Perhaps how fitting that it is raining today as I sit to write you this note. It's as Heaven is aware of the deep sorrow that fills my heart as I learned of Wayne's passing. My heart breaks for you and it is my hope that God will be near you in the days, weeks and months ahead and will comfort you during this time. If I had but one more chance to sit and just visit with Wayne it would be to again personally thank him. I would thank him for believing in me and helping me to get my Law Enforcement Career off on a solid foundation. I would thank him for being so kind and always offering me 1 of his 3 hot dogs he ate every morning for breakfast when we stopped in at the Circle K. I would tell him how much I enjoyed our time together in which I was able to observe, learn and then dream of being just 1/10 of the talented officer/investigator he was. I would thank him for making me, by his own hands and design, his classic wood document/map holder. That special gift would keep me organized and serve me well throughout my entire career. Everytime I reached for something I think a part of me always smiled and remembered him. I would tell him how proud I was of him and how very proud I was to have trained under him. He was truly an inspiration to me and as always, will be remembered with great affection and admiration.

To Wayne's Family, my day became sad when I learned of his passing. I remember when I meet Wayne, I was working mid-nights on the Booking Desk at the County Jail in Belle Glade in 1982. I worked with Wayne when I started at PBSO in 1986, he was a fantantics guy, he helped me out a lot over the years, then one day he was gone and went into another profession, I really hated to see him leave, then he returned I was so happy to see him again and we worked together agan until he then retired.

This is very difficult for me to do, because not only have I lost someone who was once my best friend, but someone whom I considered a brother. Wayne was pound for pound the toughest and smartest cop I have ever met. He had a way with people from all walks of life and he always tried to help the people he served, be they co-workers, victims or defendants. I dont recall him ever saying a cross word about anyone and he taught me so much about being a good cop. We worked together from the day he came over from the Glades and we went through many a door together. We didnt have to talk about what we were going to do, we instictively knew what the other was thinking and how we would handle situations. He had a wry sense of humor, sarcastic from time to time but never in a mean way. God Bless Wayne, Pris and Jodi ( I love you both!) and of course DJ. God has called my partner to his side and I wish him peace and love. We have all lost something in Wayne's passing, but what we gained from knowing an loving him can never be replaced.

My Memories of Wayne

Somewhere above Palm Beach County tonight,
Wayne drives his heavenly green and white!
Or maybe he's helping to solve a crime,
By whispering to the detective, "Hey, take your time!"
Wayne always watched out for those discarded,
Whose lives were taken or left down-trotted.
He never gave up nor ever gave in,
His cold cases solved again and again.
He did this without pressure or political desire,
And worked like champ until he retired.
In a raspy low voice he would share at the table,
Stories and laughs and at times a "Wayne Fable"!
But always there was a gleam in his eye,
His matching shirt and his funny looking tie!
He loved Miss Priscilla his beautiful wife,
For 28 years they shared a great life.
Proud Marine, gentleman and a hand he would lend,
To anyone who knew him he was always a friend.

Pris, I am so very sorry, Wayne was a beautiful friend. My funniest memory was of Wayne taping out the exact floor space in the bureau. Those that got to work with him are very fortunate, you always learned something from Wayne. My prayers, thoughts and love are with you.

I was very sad to hear about Wayne's passing. I met Wayne while working at the Sheriff's Office. I will always remember him for his his unique quietness and dedicated details to the job at hand. His calmness, when I do not know how he kept his composure at times, during some of the terrible cases we worked together. Priscilla, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hi, I saw Detective P. Wayne Robinson while watching a old episode of Cold Case w/Bill Kurtis, and there was something' so very special about this man that made me cry and feel a deep love in my soul for him that I would like to express to his family. I grew up in unimaginable abuse, suffered from chronic headaches (for 49 yrs, luckily finally figured out the cause and don't have them anymore now), had dealt w/sexual harassment at almost every job, a victim of child rape, etc. and although I never had a drug problem at all, I turned to prostitution. I was arrested twice and charged. This follows me in my day to day life and it's very painful because I'm trying to MoveOn, and It's usually police officers that's treating me badly even if I making a report for someone injuring me, even if it's non domestic, because of their judgment due to my background. I never wanted to have to do such things to survive. I haven't ever really had a lot of people say the words that this man said when referring to the prostitute who had been killed in the episode of Cold Case and the other prostitutes that helped him solve the crime. He expressed that he did not look down upon these people, and said that he knew this is something that they never wanted to have to do, that he didn't look down upon them. This means the WORLD TO ME!!, something that I really needed to hear, and I just don't get to hear it often at all really, in a way that I believe that the person is saying it "really means it". I saved this picture of him so I can have a pretend picture for a pretend dad, because I never had one, other than God of course. (My own father was inappropriate with me) I would like to say to the daughters, wife, family and friends of this man, "He is still helping people, he was put here for a reason, and remind everyone to get a big smile on their face, take a deep breath and "keep" that big smile smiling"!! :) ThankYou Detective P.
