Obituary of Ronald William Morrison

Mr. Ronald W. Morrison, 68, of Ocala, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at his residence. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Morrison moved to Ocala in 2000, coming here from South Florida. While in South Florida, Mr. Morrison and his wife Sharon owned the Davie Funeral Home. He served as President of the Broward County Funeral Directors Association, President of the Davie Kiwanis Club, was a member of the Florida Cemetery, Cremation, and Funeral Association, a member of the Independent Funeral Directors of Florida, and was a member of the Theodore Roosevelt Lodge #1072 F.& A.M., Chicago, Illinois. Ron was a Shriner at Mahi Temple in Miami, and a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was employed by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, where he served as the Location Leader for The Villages location of Hiers-Baxley. He attended Church @ the Springs, and is a former member of First Baptist Church in Davie where he served as a Deacon. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon, his two sons, Darryl (Montse) and Devin (Heather), and four granddaughters, Gabriela, Catalina, Kierlan, and Finley. Funeral services for Mr. Morrison will be held at 7 PM Monday, June 13, 2011, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, with Rev. John Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM.
