Obituary of Sylvia W. Ketzanook

Ketzanook, Sylvia, 97 Ocala - Sylvia Ketzanook, 97, of Pine Run Estates, Ocala, and Florida passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Sylvia's House in Ocala. God said it was time to come home… what a life she had. Born as Waselka Lena Korolenchuk in Saskatchewan to her Ukrainian immigrant parents Reharry & Axana Korolenchuk, she became an American citizen on June 23, 1944. With her new life in America, a new marriage to Walter Ketzanook (deceased), a new name was chosen by her and her sister Sonja. She would now be known as Sylvia W. Ketzanook. She and her beloved husband Walter had a beautiful daughter Sandra Marie (deceased) who went on to marry her talented son-in-law Ron Sweetz (deceased) who went on to perform before President John F. Kennedy, and on several variety shows such as Ed Sullivan. With his musical gift and Sylvia's love of dance there were many happy times to be had. Through the years she was blessed with five beautiful grandchildren and six great grand-children. She leaves to cherish her memories and a strong connection of her Ukrainian heritage to her devoted caregivers, granddaughter Terri Sweetz Robinson and grandson-in-law Frank Robinson Jr. along with their two daughters and her great granddaughters Kayla and Kelsey Robinson. She also leaves behind her loving grandson Tim Sweetz and his wife Amanda, and their children, her great grandchildren, Mitchell and Emily Sweetz. She was predeceased by her loving grandson Rob Sweetz. She leaves behind her grandson Rick Sweetz, great granddaughter Jen Sweetz, granddaughter Christy Sweetz Woods, and great grandson Braden Woods. Also treasuring her memory is her extended family June and Charles Bass, and Richie, Debbie, & Frankie Marino. Sylvia, better known to all of us as "Grandma" loved the Lord and always put family first. She was a founding member of Advent Episcopal Church, enjoyed traveling, gardening, and cooking. We will remember the smiles she shared, hugs she gave, and the memories she made. Grandma was such a blessing in our lives and she left a smile full of love on our hearts. We will celebrate her life on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. With visitation at 3:00 PM.
