Obituary of Darrel Mohler

Darrel W. Mohler of Silver Springs, Fl. passed peacefully in his sleep at home on Wed. 26 Oct. 2011. He was 74 years old. Mr. Mohler was born in Runnels Ia. on 22 May, 1937 to Golda Mae(Lettington) and Eldon Henry. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at 17 and served for 12 years. He then formed Mohler Electric in Key West, Fl which he operated until 1986. Darrel relocated to the Ocala area and went to work for the Fl. State Dept. of Corrections, retiring at the rank of Sgt. in 2001. Moe was an avid sportsman, hobbyist, and tinkerer. He would spend countless hours working in his machine shop working on one of his Flywheel engine restoration projects or in his "wine room" making a small batch of home made wine for friends to enjoy. Mr. Mohler leaves behind to cherish his memory his children; Steven Mohler of Jacksonville, Fl., Jeffrey Mohler (Alline) of Silver Springs, Fl., and Mera Mae Mohler from Ocala, Fl. Four Grand children; Clifford Mohler, Darrel Mohler II, Elizabeth Mohler, and Joshua Mohler. Four great grand children, and numerous close friends and family. Darrel is preceded in death by his mother Golda, his father Eldon, son John, and grand daughter Monica. A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, 29 Oct. 2011, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral home 910 E.Silver Springs Boulevard at 1pm followed by a memorial service at 2PM with the 15th District Masonic Memorial Lodge conducting the services. Per his request, his remains will be interred at sea with military honors. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in his memory.
