Obituary of James C. Paxson
James Carroll Paxson passed away of cardiac complications in Ocala November 8, 2011 diligently working on one of his many properties. He was born 12/21/1929 and raised in Dunbar, Iowa, a farmer's son. Jim was a master sergeant in the Army and served in the 2nd division combat engineers as an occupation troop in Germany and fought in the Korean War 1950-1951. He returned to Iowa, living in Grundy Center with his wife, Genevieve. In 1960 the family moved to Gloucester, MA where he was the east coast manager for a nationwide trucking company while operating his own local trucking company.
In 1983 he moved his family to Ocala and became a successful real estate entrepreneur. Mr. Paxson was a lifelong Methodist serving as a trustee at churches in MA and Ocala. He was a philanthropist to many organizations including war vets, Salvation Army and St. Mark's thrift store.
He is survived by his devoted loving wife of 65 years, Genevieve, his children Cindy(Daniel Shaffer), Tim(Louise), Lindy, Ted(Dawn) and Wendi(Dr. Sukumaran Ramaswami), 10 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter Mindy and brother Bill.
A Memorial Service will be held this Saturday November 12, , 2011 at 2:00PM with Rev. Daniel Jones, officiating at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, Fl
