Obituary of Calvin Apperson

Calvin L. Apperson Ocala, Florida Calvin (Cal) Lile Apperson (75), Ocala, FL passed suddenly on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Cal was born on August 29, 1936 to the late Myrle Mae and David Lile Apperson in Lynchburg VA, He is survived by a sister, Jean Ferguson and brother, Robert Apperson (Gloria). He was the loving and dedicated husband of Jo (Berto) Apperson. Together they were more than husband and wife - they were best friends. They were married for more than 50 years. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. Following discharge from the Corps, he worked for Frito Lay, Inc. for more than 39 years, where he worked his way up the ranks to become District Manager. After retirement from Frito Lay, Cal and Jo moved from their family residence in New Carrollton, MD where they had raised their three children, to Ocala FL. He enjoyed retirement to the fullest. He was an avid golfer and bowler and never missed an opportunity to partake in both activities. He is survived by his wife, Jo, and his three children, Lorrie Hall (Mike) of Crofton, MD; Debby Wilson (Jim) of Ashburn VA; and David Apperson (Tina) of Martinsburg, WV and six grandchildren, Ryan Wilson; Cory Armstrong; Kyle Armstrong; Kelsey Hall; Cody Armstrong; and Keri Apperson. Viewing will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Hiers-Baxley TimberRidge Chapel, 9695 SW 110th Street Ocala, FL. A celebration of Cal's life will be held following the viewing at On Top of the World's H&R Ballroom. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Legacy House, 9695 SW 110th Street, Ocala, FL 34481 or a charity of your choice in Cal's memory.
