I know I have added a lot of pictures of Arnold and his various family members, but this is the way I remember Arnold. He always had a smile and a laugh for you. He was a family man through and through and would help you out any way he could. He will be missed greatly, but I know I will always have him in heaven looking out for the family's best interests. He loved that dog so much. He would tell us stories about that dog all the time. He said there where only two other dogs that could where as good as this one. That was Dusty and the other was Brownie. I know he is in heaven now throwing balls with Brownie, holding a stuff bunny up for Dusty and is hug and rolling on the ground with this one. I wish could tell you it's name for I heard it 100 times but I just can not come up it.

I had to add the story of how Arnold was our baby...bought and paid for! When I was 4 years old and my brother Roger was 3,Uncle Kenneth came to ask us if we wanted a baby? Yea we wanted one!He said he and Aunt Shirley were going to have one but... We needed to save our pennies to help pay for this baby:)My Mom told the story that we had a jar and saved every penny we could get our hands on .We were saving for a baby! On the day Arnold was born Uncle Kenny came to tell us we had a baby boy!! We were so excited.He told us to run and get our penny jar so we could pay for the baby. (We found out years later that this money really went to buy us a toy) But in our hearts he was our baby! Bought & paid for. We loved to play with him ,he was our little" Butterball" .We were so proud of him then & always of the wonderful person he becameYou were worth every Penny! love always Debbie &Roger.

I have so many wonderful memories of Dad. He always seemed to pick on me quite a bit because I am a big Green Bay Packers fan, but we always found ourselves talking about football. I always enjoyed the mean game of cards we would all play wether it was spades or hearts. He was such an amazing person and I feel truly blessed to have had him in my life.

It might sound a little crazy, but these are the things that make me think of Uncle Arnold . . .
1) The Queen of Spades
2) Johnson's Baby Powder
3) Banquet Pot Pies
4) X-Men
5) Grapevine
6) Waffle House
7) Trash Dumpsters
An unusual list at first glance but allow me to explain.
I lived with my Aunt Donna and Uncle Arnold for about a year and in that short time, I learned a lot of lessons, had a lot of laughs, and got to see (for the first time) what a happily married couple looked like. So here goes . . the reasons that certain things always make me smile and remember a happy time in my childhood:
The Queen of Spades is worth 13 points. That is a bad thing! You see, the 13 points you rack up with the Queen of Spades almost seals your fate on a Saturday. It means you "win" things like Cleaning the Bathroom, Doing the Dishes, and Scrubbing the Toilet. Thanks to my Aunt and Uncle, I became a pretty good card player.
I won't go into too much detail on this one but anybody who knew Uncle Arnold and hung around him in the summertime already knows why I listed the Baby Powder. Let's just say the visual of my big, burley Uncle walking with little powder puffs of smoke coming from his butt . . they crack me up - every time.
I didn't realize . . . hhmmm, let me rephrase that . . I didnt APPRECIATE that I was only a little more than 10 years younger than Aunt Donna and Uncle Arnold when they took me in to live with them, Kenny (I know, I know - it's "Ken" now . . I'm trying to remember that he is a grown up.), John, and Angel. I was introduced to Banquet Pot Pies that year. We ate them all - chicken and beef - and we ate lots of them! They were perfect. You got your meat, vegetable, and bread all in one. They taught me that no matter how much money you make, you can live well if you prioritize and budget. THAT is a life lesson I am forever grateful to have been taught.
Funny story for another day - My son, Andre thinks he is an X-Man. His favorite is Gambit. I think he likes him because Gambit has a sorted past (having been a thief before coming to Professor X) and every now and then he tips to the dark side. Andre was introduced to the X-Men because I liked to watch the Saturday morning cartoons with him and tell him all I knew about the history of the characters. I learned all of this of course from running like crazy from the mailbox to the bathroom to lock myself in and read the newest comic book cover to cover before Uncle Arnold discovered it had come that day. Everybody wanted to be the first one to get their hands on the newest edition of the X-Men comic.
I recently moved to Florida and I have a small landscaped island in my backyard. It wasn't until mid-summer that I noticed something growing back there that I knew all too well. My old enemy - the killer Grapevine. No other weed known to man is as nasty. I first met the devil vine on Apple Mountain when we worked to clear out the brush and get the yard in shape. Trust me, I hate it as much now as I did then . . grapevine is the WORST.
Speaking of Apple Mountain, that is where I had my first taste of Apple Butter. As we all know, the Waffle House serves raisin toast with Apple Butter. They serve mine with extra. I love the stuff and it makes me smile every time.
Apple Mountain is also where I learned to drive. Uncle Arnold would let me take the trash out with him and I got to sit behind the wheel. I'm not sure what possessed him to let me drive that big old car down that winding mountain road and back up again . . hahahaha . . but I jumped at every chance I got.
I can't begin to say how much I cherish these memories. I can count on one hand the number of people I have met in my life who have nothing but good intentions for every person they meet - two of those fingers are reserved for my Aunt and Uncle. I consider myself very blessed to have had the chance to watch the two of them together to see firsthand what a happy home is supposed to look like.
My prayers for Aunt Donna and my cousins are prayers of peace and understanding.

Donna and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time of need. We have many great memories of you here in Linden and we will be eternally grateful for the time that God has allow us to spend with you here in our mission of service to the community. Dear Plaster Family-

Arnold was the best brother in law, as I never had to worry about my sister. He loved her and their children, no end! As an uncle he was fantastic!
