Obituary of Tommie Watkins

WATKINS, Tommie Tommie Watkins was born on February 14, 1912 in Andalusia, Alabama. He was a "plow boy" until the age of 25. He married Gwennie B. Pinckard in 1937 and then moved to Ocala in 1938. They raised 3 children together, Gwen Watkins DeVane (Harold), Bill Watkins, & John Watkins (Sharon). He worked at Ocala Manufacturing Ice & Packing Company, 18 years, and H.A. Busbee Clete & Company where he was foreman, 18 years. He also worked at Kingswood Nurseries for 25 years. He has 7grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was a man of honesty, integrity, and hard work. He loved fishing and baseball. He is now home with Jesus and his family. Graveside services for Mr. Watkins will be held at 3 PM Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Dr. Edward D. Johnson officiating. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd. is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, PO Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478.
