Obituary of William T. Mills

William T. "Bill" Mills, 77, passed away at his home December 1, 2011. Mr. Mills was born in Wildwood, Florida on March 1, 1934. He graduated from Summerfield High School in 1952, and earned a bachelor degree in agriculture from the University of Florida in 1956. He also served in the U.S. Army. From 1961-1973, Bill was the chief juvenile counselor in Lake County, then worked for the CSX Railroad until 1986, after which he retired and returned to Marion County. He was a deacon in the First Baptist Church of Summerfield where he taught Sunday School and served as the church treasurer for many years. Mr. Mills is survived by his wife, Jaca (married for 56 years); daughter, Marie Mills, Neptune Beach, FL; son, Buddy Mills, Chuluota, FL (Holly); grandchildren, Ross, Jack and Christine Mills; mother, Angie Marie Mills, Summerfield, FL; sister, Gertrude McCornick (Brian), Castleberry, FL; sister, Emma Tedder-Young (Kenneth), Perry, FL; sister, Darlene Perryman (Mike), Ocala, FL; and sister, Sonya Carroll, Valencia, CA. Bill loved the Florida Gators, and was an enthusiast of gardening, fishing and depression glass collecting. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County or Family Life Center, First Baptist Church of Summerfield, P. O. Box 58, 14550 SE 65th Court, Summerfield, Florida 34491. Funeral services for Bill will be held Monday at 10 AM at First Baptist Church of Summerfield. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services - Belleview.
