Obituary of Michael Grimaldi
Michael Grimaldi, age 87, of Ocala, FL passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 25, 1924. Michael lived all his life in New York until moving to Florida one year ago to live with his daughter. For a living he was a Butcher, Milkman and finally a Sanitation Worker for the City of New York where he retired after 25 years. He could be found most days at either OTB or the racetrack. His favorite pastime besides gambling was grocery shopping. Michael served in the US Army during WWII, fought on the beach in Normandy during D day. He also fought in Germany, Belgium, Russia and Africa. He is survived by his daughters Sandra Arroyo of Ocala, FL and Janis Grimaldi of Stroudsburg, PA; sisters Lia Cowart of Plant City, FL, Nora Castello of Staten Island, NY and Margie Castello of Howard Beach, NY; 5 grandchildren Josef, Daniel, Jael, Michael and Nicole; 6 great granddaughters Alana, Anye, Katana, Jaelena, Jaelynn and Christina. Michael was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years Helen Wohl Grimaldi. A memorial service with military honors will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 2:00pm. The family requests no flowers.
