Obituary of Robert R. Laird

Robert R. Laird, Jr, 65, died Wednesday Dec. 14, 2011. Mr. Laird was born in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to The Villages in 2005 from Charlotte, NC. He retired after a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry; served in the Army Reserves, and was a member of the New Covenant Methodist Church. Bob's passion was sports and he coached youth football and baseball while residing in Poughkeepsie, NY. Survivors include his wife, Lorna; sons Robert S. Laird and wife Pamela, Indiana, PA; and Michael R. Laird and fiance Melissa, Heber City, Utah; Sister, Alma Jean (Laird) Swanson, Port St. Lucie, FL; Sisters-in-law, Kathleen Chesley, Plum, PA; Susan Gamble, Wilmington, NC; Harryl Schwarz, Wexford, PA; Brothers-in-law Chuck Swanson; George Gamble; and Bruno Schwarz; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on January 7, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Murrysville, PA.
